ScrambleID allows you to sign in securely using your trusted mobile device
no usernames, no passwords. Simply scan and go for a fast, seamless authentication experience.
If you received a ScrambleID invitation email from your organization with a six-digit activation code in it, download and install the ScrambleID app for Android or iOS or Windows. Then get started by registering in the ScrambleID app. It only takes a few minutes.
This user guide will help you install the Desktop app on Windows and use it for registering and signing up using ScrambleID. If you are trying to use iOS or Android for registration / login, please refer to ScrambleID-End-User-Guide-Mobile.
Installing the Desktop App
What you’ll need
Your Windows Desktop and the installer
Access your organization email for the invitation
Microsoft .NET v 8.0 x64 or later installed on your computer

Installers for the ScrambleID Desktop App can be downloaded from:

.NET Installation
Before you install the ScrambleID Desktop App, ensure that you have .NET 8.0 x64 or later installed on your computer. To check the version of .NET, first open the command prompt.

Type the command dotnet --list-runtimes into the command prompt

If your .NET version is below 8.0 x64, update it to a later version from the Microsoft .NET Website.
Firewall Configuration
SSL (http through port 443) should be allowed for the following domains
1. prod.scrambleid.com
2. login.prod.scrambleid.com
Once done, you can use the below heartbeat URL to test if the ScrambleID server is accessible through the firewall.

Certificate Configuration
ScrambleID servers are public domain and as such they should be already trusted by any client unless they are using a custom certificate store for trust. In such cases, these are the certificates to add to the store for trust

Installation Steps
Download the latest version of the ScrambleID Desktop App installation file shared with you, unzip it and open the unzipped folder.

Follow the instructions in the installer.

Choose the installation path and whether the installation is for everyone on the PC or just yourself.

Create a shortcut on the Desktop and check the option to launch the app once installation is complete

Confirm the installation and complete it.

Once your device is registered, your account is authenticated and ready for use. You can now use the app to login. Under the Login tab, choose the user you would like to login as.
The ScrambleID App will be launched.

You will also find a shortcut created on your desktop.

Register as a New User
Enter your Business E-mail ID and Activation Code.

Your Activation Code can be found in your inbox with the subject Activate your ScrambleID account.

Create a PIN that you can use to sign in to the Desktop App.

On entering the last digit of the Confirm PIN the submit button will click automatically. You will receive a confirmation message that your registration is complete.

Using the App
Once your device is registered, your account is authenticated and ready for use. You can now use the app to login. Under the Login tab, choose the user you would like to login as.

You will be redirected to a screen where you will need to enter a code to login.

Logging in to a passwordless-enabled application will redirect you to the ScrambleID login screen. From there, select Scan Code or Type Code within your desktop app.

Log In Using a QR Code
When using Scan Code with the Desktop App, you will not actually scan the code as you would with a mobile device. Instead, you will be copying and pasting the underlying QR string into the app. Follow the steps below to log in:
1. Click the Copy QR button on the login page to copy the authorization code to your clipboard.
2. In the ScrambleID Desktop App, paste the code into the Enter Code section, and click Authenticate.

Log In Using Type Code
If you are unable to copy and paste the code (for example, if clipboard sharing is disabled across a Remote Desktop connection), you can manually enter a code instead.
1. Select Type Code from the left-hand menu on the login screen.
2. Open the ScrambleID Desktop App and manually type the characters shown into the Enter Code section and click Authenticate.

3. You will receive an additional Two-digit code on the login app. Enter this code into the Desktop App and click Authenticate.

Once authenticated, you will be successfully logged in and redirected back to the business application.

You can also access the ScrambleID Employee Portal using the same method.
Authenticate using HelpDesk / IVR
After receiving your code from the Help Desk or IVR, enter it into the Enter Code section of the Desktop App and click Authenticate.

Note: For your security, Help Desk and IVR codes expire after a short time. If your code is not accepted, you may need to request a new one.
Setting up Passkey
You can use the ScrambleID Desktop App to set up a Passkey, allowing you to log in directly from your computer without needing to scan a code every time.
On the ScrambleID login screen, select Passkey from the left-hand menu and click the Setup button.

Copy the authorization code displayed on the login app and paste it into the Enter Code section of your ScrambleID Desktop App.

You will receive an additional Two-digit code on the login app. Enter this code into the Desktop App and click Authenticate.

Note: There are options on the system to set up a passkey of your choice for example your fingerprint, facial recognition, or PIN.
Setting up your Passkey using the fingerprint option:

Hit Continue and authenticate using your passkey.

You will receive a confirmation on the login screen that the setup is complete.

After the setup is complete, click Back to Login. You will now be able to log in using the saved Passkey on your Windows device.

Note: It may take a few seconds for the Passkey option to initialize on the login screen.
You will now be able to log in using the saved passkey i.e. your fingerprint.
Once the Passkey is set up and chosen as your login method, selecting Set as default will automatically launch the Passkey login window during the next login attempt.

Remove Device
To remove an existing user from the desktop app, click 'Remove User' in the top-right corner.

Click Yes to confirm and your device will be removed.

FAQ
Who do I contact if I have a question?
Your company’s help desk can always help answer questions or provide a six-digit activation code to help you register for the first time or add a new device.
What if I get an error during activation?
Ensure that the business email and activation code you entered are correct, and retry the operation. Contact your company’s help desk if the error continues.
Can I use more than one device to access the same organization?
Yes. Once you register, you can use the registered device to add more devices. A maximum of five devices is supported per user.
Can I use a single device to access multiple organizations?
Yes, you can use any of your devices to access all organizations you have added to your profile.
Why does ScrambleID ask for my personal email?
A user can have multiple organizations associated with them. Personal email is used by ScrambleID to notify users of any account changes that are not organization-specific, but rather related to the ScrambleID user profile itself. An example would be add/remove device,
I lost my only registered device, how do I register a new device to my ScrambleID?
Contact your manager or call the helpdesk and get an activation code. Register on your new device as a new user.
How do I reset my ScrambleID Desktop app pin if I've forgotten it?
Contact your call center or helpdesk admin to get a new activation code and re-register in the desktop app.
Will uninstalling the ScrambleID app on my device delete my ScrambleID profile?
No, your ScrambleID profile is not deleted. If you have any other devices with ScrambleID installed, you can always add this device back to your profile using an existing device with ScrambleID on it.
